Karen Bergh, MPS, APR brings her more than 30 years' experience as a communications professional, higher education administrator, consultant, and longtime adjunct college professor to DESE's Engagement Unit. Karen works in support of family and community engagement as a key to student success: she develops communications and training tools; provides research, coaching and technical assistance to stakeholders; and showcases best practices. Talk to her about research, trends, resources, and best practices in parent, family and community engagement; fishing, cycling and hiking throughout Arkansas as she attempts to complete her Arkansas State Parks passport!Karen earned her B.S. in Journalism from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, and her Masters in Professional Studies (MPS) in Strategic Public Relations from George Washington University in Washington, D.C.. She has earned the Accreditation in Public Relations, or APR, from the Public Relations Society of America, which is considered the pinnacle achievement for practitioners in the PR field and promotes the highest standard of professionalism and ethics in the profession.
